Mid Essex Hospital Services NHS Trust
|
Architects and Design Team Leader for this 50,000 s.m. new build PFI hospital redevelopment, designed for the Bouygues UK consortium. The design features an atrium that serves a critical function by creating a sense of place at the heart of a growing healthcare campus. Situated between the existing 80’s hospital buildings and the new 21st Century facility, the atrium provides orientation and a connection to the surrounding campus within an integrated interior, architecture and landscape design. Planning permission, based on an application by the statutory planning team, was approved in August 2004, prior to the submission of a further application for full planning permission in respect of part of the approved development to accommodate a facilities management centre.
